msn:carl_veil@hotmail.com Many people dont understand why a person would do that to a vehicle. For instance the locals: "whut the healll you Wanna Go and lower a truck For yewww idiot." A LOwRider and a minitruck are 2 different things. A low rider is a truck (or car) with a bad paint job, dents, rust, shitty sound system, NO real custom body work, stock interior, with 13 inch WIRE wheels, and some gangsta wanna-be driving it. (most of the time). A MiniTruck is typically a 2wd small-mid size truck with crazy custom body work, big (usually chrome) wheels, Custom frame and suspension modifications, awesome custom interior, Awesome custom paint job, and usually an AirBag suspension setup. The difference between airbags and "being lowered" is that with airbags you can raise the truck to almost Stock height with the flip of a switch, therefore elminating most clearance issues. You can do the same with Hydraulics, but hydros' ride rougher and require more space, and battery power.
Anyways, the point of building a minitruck is not to RACE people, not to "make it look fast" but to express yourself through an Insane Peice of rolling artwork. To be able to lay your frame on the pavement with the push of a button, throwing sparks into the windsheld of the SUV-driving asshole who is on your bumper is PirCELESS >:)
Some people think that by buying a BMW or a Mercedes
it will make them "stand out" on the road. I laugh at these
people because "standing out" is rolling down the road in this one of a kind ride that YOU built and YOU have poured your creativity into, and truly no other person in the world has the same ride. It expresses your individuality, and refusal to accept what our society says is "cool" and status symbols like ESCALADES, because the rappers said so. Your ride can be as original as you are. And it will show.
Thats my view on MiniTruckin'
Many people adopt a whole lifestyle when joining the world of custom minis. While some folks outside of the minitruck world may not understand the culture and may simply believe that minitruckers are all the same in the way that they dress, present themselves, etc., those folks could not be more mistaken. Much like the trucks that they build (or buy), each minitrucker is an individual, as is evident in the different styles of minitrucks that are built. Minitruckers sometimes get a bad rap for various reasons, such as "loitering" in parking lots afterhours to discuss their hobby of building, owning and driving minitrucks. Some minitruckers are seen as hoodlums because they wear baggy pants, have tattoos, and drive with the truck dragging on the ground, but that is just the image that those particular enthusiasts wish to portray. A very surprising percentage of minitruckers are simply good folks that like to help others build their rides, and they look/dress/act as average as the next person. Truck/car clubs are a great way to show off the trucks and meet new people. Severed Ties and its sister club Negative Camber have a large amount of vehicles in their clubs and many of those vehicles are of the highest quality in the world with awards and magazine coverage to prove such. Mini Truckin' has the most extensive coverage of minitrucks with everything from the feature trucks, to truck shows, to tech articles to help people customize their trucks, to pretty much anything else that one could want from a custom minitruck magazine.
